Tignes
Country: France
Region: Val d'Isere
Nearest Airport: Grenoble

Resort description:Tignes is a world renowned resort high up on the Tarantaise. Made up of 5 villages and linked to the cosmopolitan resort of Val d’Isere which forms the Espace Killy – the ski area is World class. Not only is the skiing superb its also snow sure and often you can ski there all year, virtually guaranteed with 2 glaciers.Tignes excels with chalets and self catered apartments, of which there are many.We recommend chalets in the pretty old farming village of Tignes Les Brevieres, for those not wanting a wild nightlife, though there are enough bars and restaurants to enjoy over a week. After skiing there are some lively bars at the foot of the slopes such as La Bouida,Vincents or Le Geant Situated at an altitude of 1550 metres, Les Brévières is well linked with all the other resorts within the Tignes and Espace Killy area by the fast modern network of lifts.Tignes and Val D’Isere ishould be on every skiers to do list! 100 lifts open up 300kms of World class skiing between 1550 and 3500m.
Beginners
Under the careful tuition of the ESF in Les Brevieres, beginners will soon be riding the bubble lift to access some of the wide open blue runs above Tignes Val Claret. The adventurous can head up the Fresse chairlift to access the ‘Ski Tranquille’ area of slow skiing green runs.
Intermediates
The Espace Killy is intermediate skiing nirvana. The choice seems endless. Head up to the Aiguille Percee to practice your carving all the way down to Tignes le Lac; Up the Aeroski then either head over to the Grande Motte glacier or down to La Daille criss-crossing the men’s world cup downhill course. On the way home the Sache is a stunning run back to Brevieres when freshly groomed – but do be aware that it can turn into a long mogul run!
Advanced
Where do you start! Head up to the two Freeride zones. The Col des Ves chairlifts opens up the patrolled but not groomed Chicherit Naturide Piste. The Novelles Glisses Zone – for the snow park and four cross course. The Grande Motte has some stunning off piste. Heading over to Val D’Isere – try your edges on the Coupe du Monde – the OK piste.; back up the Funival then the Face down to Val D’Isere; up to Solaise; over to the glacier – then how about off piste via Col Pers down to Le Fornet. Call our office and we'll send you an A3 size piste map which will help you plan your skiing while staying in one of our chalets!
Ski School
Beginners and children are best heading towards The ESF (www.esf-tignes.com). They run group lessons from both Tignes Les Brevieres as well as Tignes le Lac. For intermediate and advanced skiers wishing to tune up their technique contact one of the UK’s top ski instructors - Alan Hole of Alpine Logic; his ski school is excellent and good value – a 2 hour lesson for 4 people costs 30€ per person.
Ski Hire
We have our special discounted rates in Tignes, in all locations, stocked with the latest skis and boots. We guarantee that our ski hire is the best value in the resort!
Child Care
We can help organise any child care if needed.
