Resort description:At 2,300m, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe, and its snow reliability is without question. The most modern village in the famous Three Valleys ski area, its skiing, facilities and sheer convenience are impossible to beat. The huge open snow-bowl in which the resort lies offers some of the best intermediate skiing in the whole of the Three Valleys, and the sheer quality of the snow at this height makes it a joy to ski.In the evenings this is generally a lively place, with an apres-ski scene to match its incredible skiing.

We are pleased to offer you a convenient pre-bookable service for ski/board and boot hire, tuition and lift passes. The big advantages are that everything is arranged for you in advance, prices are guaranteed against currency fluctuation.

We have teamed up with a respected local ski-school to offer skiers and snowboarders excellent English-speaking group lessons for both adults and children, which we recommend you pre-book.The school also offers private lessons and a Three Valley guided tour, and these can be booked locally.
Aprés Ski

Val Thorens is a fun resort and there are lots of pubs, restaurants and clubs for all tastes throughout the village. The Frog and Roast Beef is a must for those who miss their local pub and Dicks Tea Bar is the venue for dancing the night away. The clientele is lively and international.

Val Thorens is famous for its huge collection of snowmobiles, where you can zip around the mountain with a guide as soon as the lifts close – it gives you quite a different perspective of the mountains. During the day, why not try the 6km toboggan run at the foot of the Peclet glacier. Paragliding is also available. For those who still have energy, there is a sports centre in Val Thorens that has a large pool, sauna, gym, tennis and squash courts.
Resort Facilities and distances
80 shops, 50 restaurants, 15 bars/clubs, Swimming pool, Toboggan run, Snow mobiles, Squash, Tennis, Gym, and bowling alley. From Chambery the transfer would be 2 hours and from Geneva 2 hours 45 minutes.
The Skiing

Val Thorens is known for having one of the most up-to-date lift systems in the world, with a huge uphill capacity that can whisk you quickly and comfortably to the top of the many peaks and glaciers that surround the resort, including eight skiable peaks or passes over 3000 metres! Being so high, snow is guaranteed here, and the resort has one of the longest seasons in the Alps.

There are nearly 150kms of pistes in Val Thorens Valley alone, but the big attraction of course is the links with the neighbouring Meribel and Courchevel valleys, with 600kms of pisted skiing in all, plus limitless off-piste areas.

Beginners are well cared for here, with numerous easy village slopes, and after a few days tuition will soon be moving up the mountains to higher altitude blue runs. With the full area pass intermediate skiers can easily make it over into Meribel valley and beyond to Courchevel for a fantastic full day round trip. If you do not want to go that far, then the blues and reds around Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville are just as enjoyable and generally less busy.

Advanced skiers are spoilt rotten, with steep blacks, plentiful powder at this altitude, and bump runs all over the area, including the famous run from Cime de Caron at nearly 3200m. Boarders have a dedicated snow-park near the Funitel lift. All in all a popular snow sure choice at great rates.Check out our excellent apartment and catered chalet options.
