Resort description:Vail lays claim to be Number One ski resort, in America. The Colorado Ticket offers the biggest ski area experience in the USA, ( together with Lake Tahoe,Whistler and Utah) rivalling in size the major French ski areas. On one lift pass, you can ski not only Vail and Beaver Creek but Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin as well.Thats over 700 km of skiing albeit interspersed and not interconnected. Vail itself boasts the legendary back bowls, including the terrific terrain of Blue Sky Basin, Steep and Deep,Lovers Leap and Petes Bowl. Just over 7 miles wide and one mile deep, home to some of the famous champagne powder, not to mention miles upon miles of superb runs on the front side of the mountain, from the long, cruising and often groomed runs of Avanti and Born Free, through to the steep moguls of Highline and the black run of Riva Ridge, the longest run being 5.5 miles. Cruising a groomed blue run, on a wide piste, between the trees, with few people around you typifies skiing in America. Its just fantastic for your confidence. Check out the views from Two Elk restaurant, perhaps the largest mountain eatery in the world. Nearby Beaver Creek, is the ideal venue for those who enjoy intermediate cruising days out and sampling the steep runs of the Birds of Prey mens downhill run. Its also a boarders paradise.
Vail village is an attractive iBavarian syle pedestrianised resort offering over 200 shops, bars and restaurants to satisfy every appetite from sushi to gourmet dining. Bridge Street is the main hubbub of activity where day or night, there is always something happening. Pop in to the Red Lion for a spot of apres ski. Watch the skiers come down International both with and without skis, from the comfort of Los Amigos deck.
